As we welcome in a new month, there are new and exciting activities to get into with your family. Here is a collection of things going on in Westchester during the month of May.
Garden Tots

Nature Nick’s Animal Adventures: Exotic Animal Shows
Ridge Hill; 1 Ridge Hill Boulevard, Yonkers
May 5; 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. – shows will begin at approximately 1:00 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Come visit and see animals such as snakes, alligators, foxes, turtles, falcons and more! These free shows run between 20-30 minutes.
Teddy Bear Picnic
Hosted by Ethical Culture Society of Westchester; 7 Saxon Wood Road, White Plains
May 5; 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Children ages 3-5, bring your teddy bears for an afternoon of arts and crafts, story time and more!
Newsies, The Broadway Musical
Westchester Broadway Theatre; One Broadway Plaza, Elmsford
May 1 – May 26; Wednesdays – Sundays
Enjoy dinner and a show! Newsies is based on the 90’s musical movie by Disney of the same title and focuses on the newsboy strike of 1899. The actors each had strong voices to match their acting skills.
Young Discoverers – Discovering the Colors of the Rainbow
Westchester Children’s Museum; 100 Playland Parkway, Rye
Wednesdays and Fridays in the month of May* (*except May 17; museum is closed for their Spring Benefit); 11:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Children will learn all about the order of the colors in the rainbow! Come and participate in experiments with color mixing and much more!
Westchester Children’s Book Festival for Young Readers
Mohawk Day Camp; 200 Old Tarrytown Road, White Plains
May 3; 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Meet and interact with children’s book authors including the creator of “Max and Ruby” (Rosemary Wells). There will be entertainment, carnival games, a petting zoo, the Bubble Bus and more. $20 per family.
Water Safety Day
