Being a Mom – A Definition and Way of Life

definition of being a mom

Being a Mom is a very distinct title that women handle with passion, persistence, strength, and most importantly, with love.

That being said, I sometimes feel like I want to just throw my hands up in the air and say, “I DON’T WANNA DO ANYTHING TODAY!” Do you ever feel like you just don’t want to organize your children’s schedules? You don’t want to make breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus for the family. You don’t want to shuttle all of your precious kiddies to their many social events. You don’t want to organize weekly and/or monthly family activities. This list can go on and on and on.

Yet, we do each one of these things every single day. Why? Because as Moms we love our family and we will do anything within our power to ensure everyone is taken care of. Moms will sacrifice sleep, social time, and other miscellaneous time to ensure that all the needs of the family are taken care of.

As much as we gripe about not having enough time and being able to just do what we want to do with our time, I feel as mothers, we would not change our wonderful and crazy life for anything different. The moment we are away from our children, we miss them tremendously (yes, even after that euphoric 10-15 minutes when we realize that WE ARE FREEEE!). Alas, we are not really free. Moms always have their children with them. In their hearts. We always take our babies (yes, even our 40-something babies) with us everywhere we go in our hearts, because that is what Moms do.

Moms will prioritize their children while out running errands, while at their day jobs, and while driving in the car. Moms will continuously organize and re-organize their children’s schedules until it is a perfect transition of activity from sun up to sun down.

Moms, at the end of the day, we have a very important mission to accomplish. The mission that we have to accomplish is to raise our children in the very best way that we can using everything that we know to be true and effective in our lives. Moms, do not let anyone tell you that what you do is right or wrong. Moms, do what is right for you and your family. Moms, salute and praise yourself for having and doing the best job that you can do with raising your children.
