You don’t have to travel to Manhattan to see Broadway quality shows anymore! The talent in Westchester is off the charts, especially at the Westchester Broadway Theatre located in Elmsford, New York. I was invited to attend their newest (260th to be exact) production of Anything Goes and it was anything but average! Its central location in Westchester makes it the perfect place to celebrate any occasion from date night, anniversaries and even birthdays.

A night out with a girlfriend was exactly what I needed to get out of mommy mode for a few hours. We dolled up in our finest and had such a fun night that included wine, dinner, laughs and a wonderful performance. Before the show, we enjoyed wine together while we chatted and caught up on each other’s busy lives at our own private table. Our waiter was super friendly and attentive which made the experience even more enjoyable. We then enjoyed a delicious three course meal (salad, prime rib, and delicious dessert even though I promised myself I wouldn’t). I was delightfully full and ready to kick back and watch the show.Having attended several Broadway shows in my life, Anything Goes was one I was completely new to. Set aboard the S.S. American, this show takes you on the high seas with lively music, fun tap dancing and lots of laughs. Stacia Fernandez who plays Reno Sweeney opens the show with her powerful rendition of I Get a Kick Out Of You (and wow what a voice). Based around a young wall street broker named Billy Crocker (played by the talented Zach Trimmer) who hides aboard the ship to simultaneously avoid creditors and follow the girl of his dreams. Hope Harcourt, played by the gorgeous Jackie Raye is one of the leading ladies of this show and plays Crocker’s love interest. Unfortunately, she is already engaged to another man and so the story begins.

Between Hope’s impending marriage, Billy’s struggle to hide from authorities, his drunk of a boss (hilariously played by Bob Walton), Hope’s overbearing mother (played by the hysterical Tina Johnson) and a real villain aboard named Moonface Martin (brilliantly played by Jon J Peterson), this show is full of twists and turns that has everyone laughing and crying while at the edge of their seats.

Two of my favorite characters were Lord Evelyn Oakley (Hope’s stuffy, British fiancé) played by Kevin Pariseau and the brassy Erma played by the ever so talented Mychal Phillips who in my opinion, had the best costumes of the evening thanks to designer Keith Nielson. All of these talented cast members along with the ensemble that consistently wowed the audience with fast and exciting tap dance numbers made Anything Goes a performance to not be missed! I’m already anticipating going again for one my favorite plays (Phantom) starting September 13!

Anything Goes runs from now till September 8th. For reservations, visit their website at www.broadwaytheatre.com or call 914-592-2222. Flexible show times fit into anyone’s busy schedules with both matinee and evening options.
