Date Night at the Westchester Broadway Theatre

I know how important date nights are, but to be honest they rarely happen. When they do we usually go to the same old restaurants and then come home to catch up on our TV shows. So I was beyond excited when I was given the opportunity to attend the opening night of Sister Act at the Westchester Broadway Theatre. I mean dinner, drinks, AND a live show. Now that’s a date night!

On arrival we were greeted by the friendliest staff and shown to our seats…front and center stage! Really any table at the theater is great. Cocktails and salads were delivered to the table and we had a moment to choose our entrees. I went with the stuffed filet of sole and my husband chose the prime rib. Both were delicious and the dessert was even better! Then on to the show! We got to see SISTER ACT, based on the Touchstone Motion Picture. If for some reason you never saw it you are missing out. It’s all about Deloris Van Cartier, a disco diva, whose life takes a surprising turn when she witnesses a murder. Under protective custody she is hidden in the one place she won’t be found – a Convent! Disguised as a nun and under the suspicious watch of the Mother Superior, Deloris helps her fellow sisters find their voices as she unexpectedly rediscovers her own.

The show featured amazing original music by Tony and 8-time Oscar winner Alan Menken (Disney’s Aladdin and Beauty and The Beast, Newsies, Enchanted), dazzling dance routines and songs inspired by Motown, Soul, and Disco. This show was definitely funny and funky! I honestly can’t remember the last time my husband and I laughed so hard together.
