Cooler weather doesn’t only mean it’s time to switch from frappes to hot lattes! It’s also time to switch up your adult beverages. Au revior rose’! Ok, ok, rose’ is here to stay, so before you quit reading and boycott this post, give these fall cocktails a try.
Dark ‘N Stormy
If you like a Moscow Mule, you’ll love a Dark ‘N Stormy. Made with Bermuda’s Gosling Black Seal Rum and Stormy Ginger Beer, this sweet/spicy libation is the perfect transition from summer to winter. Adult Halloween party coming up? Make it a Dark ‘N Stormy night!
- 6 oz Goslings Stormy Ginger Beer
- 2 oz Goslings Black Seal Rum
Pour into a tall glass filled with ice, pour the Gosling’s Ginger Beer and float the rum on top. Stir (until it looks like a storm cloud).
The Hot Toddy
This classic drink is rumored to cure the most stubborn of cold-weather colds. With or without post-nasal drip, it’s certain to cure the cooler weather blues!
- 1 oz Knappogue Castle 12 Year Old
- 1 oz Celtic Honey Liqueur
- Lemon wheel
- 5-6 cloves
- 1 cup hot water
Add the Knappogue Castle and the Celtic Honey to an Irish Coffee glass. Insert the cloves into the lemon on both sides and drop into the mug. Very gently give the lemon a couple of presses with a muddler (or the back of a spoon) and add hot water.
Irish Coffee
Ba-bye cold brew. I like my coffee hot and with some kick. This is a classic take on Irish Coffee.
- 1 1/2 oz Clontarf Irish Whiskey
- 3/4 oz Simple Syrup (boil equal parts water and sugar until it thickens)
- 4 oz Brewed, hot coffee
- Heavy cream, lightly whipped (optional – but is it really?)
Pour simple syrup into an Irish Coffee glass. Combine whiskey and coffee. Stir to combine and top with a layer of heavy whipped cream. Garnish with freshly grated nutmeg and cinnamon.
Apple Cider-Bourbon Martini
Last and if you know me, certainly not least. My two favorites collide—Delicious, seasonal, apple cider, and bourbon. You can use any bourbon, but I’m biased. I love my Jefferson’s Reserve!
- 2 oz Jefferson’s Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon
- 6 oz freshly pressed apple cider (found from any of our wonderful local Westchester farms!)
- 1 oz Lemon Juice
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add cider, bourbon, and lemon juice. Shake well. Strain into either a martini glass, cocktail glass, or Irish Coffee mug. Garnish with fresh apple slices and cinnamon stick.
