2019 Summer Camp Guide

It took months for it to finally feel like winter, but it’s that time of year when moms need to start thinking about summer plans. Wait, what!? Yup, any experienced mom knows that in order to stay sane during summer break you need to put those kiddos in camp! We know how frustrating it can be, so we’ve put together our first annual Summer Camp Guide. We hope that this guide provides the information that you need to plan a fun and stress-free summer. CAMP HILLARD

This summer Camp Hillard will be celebrating its 91st summer. Started in the summer of 1929, The Libman family has continued to own and operate Westchester’s first day camp. ID TECH CAMPS

At iD Tech, students ages 7-19 learn to code, design video games, produce videos, design Fortnite-inspired levels, mod Minecraft, create with Roblox, engineer robots, model and print 3D characters, work with AI and machine learning, build laptops, learn about cybersecurity, and more! Weeklong, day and overnight summer programs that instill in-demand skills and embolden students to shape the future. iD Tech Camps (weeklong, co-ed, 7-17), Alexa Café (weeklong, all-girls, 10-15), iD Tech Academies (2-week, teen-only, 13-18). As part of their 150+ programs nationwide at top colleges, they have three convenient Westchester County locations held at Manhattanville College, Iona College and Pace University, as well as a location close by at SUNY New Paltz. Weeklong camps run from June through August.

POCONO SPRINGS CAMP

Located in the beautiful Pocono Mountains, just 75 miles from New York City, Pocono Springs Camp offers a unique concept in the world of overnight summer camps: a traditional co-ed camp experience in a 5-week program. Families want to provide their children with a full-season summer camp experience, and more than ever, they also need time and flexibility. Five weeks is the perfect length of time for campers to get the best that camp has to offer. Campers can explore many new activities, while having the time to invest in developing new skills or improving upon old ones. Five weeks also allows time for large camp events such as Tribals, (their version of Color War), sporting events, and theater shows. THE NATURE PLACE DAY CAMP

The Nature Place Day Camp is a non-competitive, nature-oriented summer day camp located on 200 beautiful acres of farms, fields, swamps, and gardens in Rockland County, NY. Family-owned and operated for 33 years, The Nature Place holds a space for children ages 4-16 to unplug and connect with the natural world. Pressure-free programming includes: gardening, cooking, swimming, earth art, games, hiking, music, drama, storytelling, farming, overnight camping trips for older children, and more. CINEMAKIDZ

Lights, camera, action, CinemaKidz offers children ages 5-15 the chance to become Filmmakers, Animators, Movie-stars, and Adventurers when they join them for camp. Led by industry professionals and artists, children are guided through the technical process of movie-making and animation from start to finish. Children discover new passions in a hands-on, innovative environment that encourages teamwork, risk-taking, and experimentation with technology. Offering 9 themes including: basic through advanced filmmaking, computer and stop-motion animation, YouTube series production, and film-making classes with a twist like skateboard films and NYC Movie Adventurers.

KATONAH ART CENTER

The Katonah Art Center (KAC) houses two painting studios, a pottery studio with ten wheels, sculpture studios, a children’s art room, a specialty workshop for glass and metal and a digital arts studio equipped with 3-D printers. Since opening in 1998, The Katonah Art Center has become a hub for artistic learning in Westchester. Students looking to learn about and excel in the visual arts can choose from numerous classes and workshops in various mediums such as: drawing, painting, pottery, sculpture, photography, fused glass, jewelry-making, 3D printing, digital arts and more! PREMIER ATHLETIC CLUB

Premier Athletic Club offers a seven-week summer day camp for children. Premier Summer Day Camp (ages 5-12 years) offers training and free-play supervised by skilled counselors. Activities include Gaga Pit, Camp Olympics, dodgeball, kickball, swimming, basketball, racquetball, tumbling, arts and crafts and other special activities. Children will receive swim lessons three times a week as well as daily free swim. Hardball Training Center

House of Sports

The House of Sports will offer a variety of weekly summer sports camps for children of all ages and abilities. Camps are taught by full-time athletic training staff and are designed to have children dramatically improve their on-court/on-field skills while having a positive, fun experience.

The Play Place

Their multi-sports and play camp is designed to keep your child aged 4 to 10 years old actively learning and having fun the entire day. Camp begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 4:30 p.m., but the fun part is what happens in between.

NATURE CAMPS

Muscoot Farm

Muscoot Farm hosts a one-week Pre-K camp program called Muscoot Wranglers where children ages 4 and 5 enjoy a hands-on experience with our farm animals, as well as outdoor activities and crafts. For children grades 1 through 8, they host weekly camps where children help take care of the animals during daily farm chores, and spend the rest of the day participating in a range of activities from ponding and hiking to cooking and crafts.

Teatown Lake Reservation

At Teatown, kids learn by exploration and creative play, develop a sense of place in the natural world, and grow respect for each other and all living things. In four two-week sessions, age-specific activities encourage the spirit of discovery!
