She has spent her entire life in Fairfield County, growing up in Norwalk and now residing in Fairfield, CT. Michelle married her husband Chris in October of 2008. Amy H., Contributor

Amy is a Hudson Valley native and educator working in New York City schools. From a young age, Amy has loved writing. Amy is a breastfeeding, babywearing mama who is always looking for fun things to do with her toddler, especially outdoors. Before moving to her current home in Westchester, Amy attended college on Long Island and then spent most of her 20s in Brooklyn and Queens. New York is truly home for her, and she’s thrilled to be living closer to her hometown of Garrison and her large extended family. As a mom, Amy believes in empowered parenting, and she’s passionate about raising her kid to be a partner in the fight for social justice. Amy lives in Ossining with her husband, son, and pup. When she’s not working or trying to figure out nap time, Amy loves hiking, yoga, swimming, and relaxing with her family.

Kris, Contributor & Book Club Facilitator

Kris is the proud mom of two wonderful, smart, and sassy daughters (born in 2007 and 2011). Raising her kids as a single mom is a challenge and an adventure and she loves every minute of it. Kris loves bringing up her girls in the same area of Westchester that she grew up in, having only moved a few miles from her childhood home. A long time passion for working with children led Kris to pursue a career in education and she has been an elementary school teacher in the Bronx for over a decade. Her teaching career has taught her that every day is a new experience and to “expect the unexpected.” If she can find any spare time between teaching and motherhood, Kris likes to read, binge watch horrible romantic comedies on TV, bake, and go on road trips with her girls.

Angela, Contributor

contributor headshot - Angela
Angela is a native of Westchester. She chose Briarcliff Manor as her home after too many hurricanes in Florida and too many people in NYC. She’s mom to her two year old son, Blaise, who’s energy she simultaneously envies and fears. She shares a love of adult beverages with her husband Michael who, like her, is in the spirits industry. A self-proclaimed expert multi-tasker, you can find her on the Hudson line cramming podcasts, emails and breakfast while penciling in her eyebrows and trying not to spill coffee on her seat mate during her morning commute to the city. On her free time she struggles to choose between doing yoga, reading NY Times best-seller’s or watching all things Real Housewives: the latter usually wins out. In her 20s you could hear her asking when her life would begin – now in her 30s you’ll find her reveling in it – chaos and all.

In order to raise awareness for perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, she volunteered for Postpartum Progress, which was a peer-to-peer organization to support women with maternal mental illnesses, and is an active member of the Westchester Postpartum Support Group. Melissa initially became interested in writing to share her journey with Postpartum OCD, but has found that writing is newfound aspect of her life that she thoroughly enjoys. She was also a contributing writer with Suburban Misfit Mom. Melissa is also a featured writer in the book “A Dark Secret,” which is a compilation of 15 women sharing their stories of maternal mental illness from diagnosis to recovery. Melissa is excited to write with the Westchester County Moms Blog team and hopes that you’ll enjoy her stories of the trials and tribulations of a born-n-raised city girl raising a teenage boy and tween daughter in Westchester.

Jordana, Contributor

contributor headshot - Jordana

Jordana lives in Bedford Hills, NY with her two favorite humans also known as her children, Kaylie (13) and Chase (11). She grew up all over the world, landed in the Washington D.C. area for a long stretch and 15 years ago wound up in Westchester, which she now proudly considers home. She’s a recovering attorney, now assistant to a private wealth advisor. She spends what little free alone time she has on her Peloton, watching reality and crime TV, and listening to a wide variety of music on her deck with a cocktail. She enjoys taking her kids for day trips into New York City, local restaurants in the Hudson Valley, beach vacations in Rhode Island, and the occasional amusement park. But she also loves just hanging out and relaxing with them at home. She loathes laundry, grocery shopping and vacuuming. Jordana’s favorite mottos to live by are don’t compare yourself to anyone else (especially when it comes to parenting), don’t be afraid to take chances or start over, always strive to be kind, and never take yourself too seriously. And if all else fails, have a good scream into your pillow, and go do something really nice for yourself, or better yet, somebody else.
