Meet Your Westchester County Moms Blog Team

Nicole Menzies, Owner and Founder

Hello, Westchester! Nicole is a born and raised Westchester area girl. She grew up in Garrison, and now lives in Cortlandt Manor with her husband and two little guys, and most of her big, fat, Greek/Italian family.

Nicole attended Manhattanville College, where she met her hockey playing Canadian husband, Jordan (and where they got married four years later). After college, she taught English and social studies in the Bronx for a few years before moving to Canada. While in Canada, she was a professor for the University of Alberta and Grande Prairie College. Since moving back to Westchester last September, Nicole has been a stay-at-home mom to her two busy toddlers.

Nicole loves everything the Westchester County area has to offer, and is so excited to bring such a unique resource to fellow local moms. You can usually find her in the Dunkin Donuts drive thru, eating half-eaten chicken nugget scraps, sneaking in very bad reality TV binges, pinning things on Pinterest that she will never actually make, or trying to correctly pronounce dinosaur names.

You can reach Nicole at nicole{at}westchestercountymomsblog{dot}com.

New York is truly home for her, and she’s thrilled to be living closer to her hometown of Garrison and her large extended family. As a mom, Amy believes in empowered parenting, and she’s passionate about raising her kid to be a partner in the fight for social justice.  Amy lives in Ossining with her husband, son, and pup. When she’s not working or trying to figure out nap time, Amy loves hiking, yoga, swimming, and relaxing with her family.

Arlene, Contributor

Arlene equips moms with life rhythm tools and teachings to restore joy, sanity, and self – because when a mom can show up for her role from a place that’s full and vital – everyone wins.

Arlene is an experienced career woman, wife, and homeschooling mother of three. She began the journey into health and wellness over 20 years ago when she cured her own IBS after conventional medicine failed (not one doctor thought to ask about diet and lifestyle). Then, she became a mother and suffered from anxiety for the first time in her life when she became overwhelmed in her role. It wasn’t more information she needed, it was an application of smart and practical tools for living in a healthy life rhythm. So she built her tool kit to get back on track and started implementing new practices. Using experience as one of her greatest educator, combined with training, she helps moms restore, replenish, and revitalize their lives.

Christina, Contributor

Christina Halpin is a Mama of two rabble rousers, based out of Sleepy Hollow. Raised in Yonkers, Christina received her Masters in Media at The New School and completed her undergrad at Manhattanville College (where she was voted part of the “Loudest DJ” team on WMVL radio two years running.) A fan of discovering local eateries, homecooking and somewhat misguided home improvement projects, she works full-time in Ecommerce for & has previously blogged for LoHud Food. She enjoys oversharing on the internet and listening to way more true crime podcasts than is probably reasonable. Also, with as much black as she wears (and the fact that she is a self-admitted a retired emo kid,) the irony of making her home in Westchester’s Halloween Town is not lost on her. Catch her on Instagram & Twitter @teenstered .

Daryl, Contributor

Daryl lives with her husband and two small children in a house right on the border between Westchester and Fairfield counties. She can usually be found in the customer service line at Target in Mt. Kisco, returning socks her son hated “because they have that thing.” She used to enjoy reading books, travelling with her husband, staying up to date on current affairs, going our to restaurants, concerts, and Yankee games, and sleeping past 6AM on weekends. Now, she enjoys hiding in the laundry room, hiding in the garage, peeing with the door slightly ajar, looking under the couch for Air Rescue Chase, obsessively refreshing Twitter so she can find our what’s going on in the outside world beyond Adventure Bay, and writing Paw Patrol/ Bubble Guppies crossover fan fiction. Lastly and most profoundly, EJ is a Stage 3 Breast Cancer survivor.  She battled through most of 2015 and into 2016, enduring a double mastectomy, 6 months of chemotherapy, 2 months of radiation and a full radical hysterectomy.  She still has more surgeries and a lifetime of monitoring but EJ is cancer free and despite it all you will never find her without a smile.

Emily, Contributor

Emily is a native Bronxite who relocated to Yonkers with her husband 6 years ago. Although she was a serious nerd in school, she hated writing papers. In fact, this was a major contributor in her choosing to major in math as an undergrad. Now, in addition to writing here, she also has her own blog at It’s funny how things change.
In addition to writing, Emily works full time in the insurance industry, is in graduate school (again majoring in math), teaches dance, and is mommy to a 3 year old boy and a baby girl (born May 2016). She met her hubby back in 2007 when they were both taking part in a community theater production of The Music Man. They were partnered as dancers and have been partnered ever since. They were engaged on top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris and had a Halloween themed wedding on that day in October 5 years ago when there was a giant snowstorm and then the next was beautiful. She is no longer bitter about this.
Other things you might care to know: Emily has been dancing since she was 3 and has danced professionally for sports teams and dance companies. She was National Mrs. New York 2015. Her daughter was diagnosed with congenital hypothyroidism at 6 days old, but she has been on meds ever since and is doing great. Emily is an organizational wizard and a spreadsheet junkie. Jen, Contributor

Jen is three-year resident of Westchester County and a five-year resident of Mommyhood. She enjoys writing, reading, coffee, wine, Disney World, and traveling with her husband, five year old daughter, two year old son, and 13 month old tiny son. She used to teach high school English in the city, but she decided to give up that stress for the stress of being a SAHM. Her least favorite things to do are laundry and dishes, but those seem to be the two things she puts the most energy into, hoping that one day, someone will create a Roomba-like device that will gather, sort, pretreat, wash, dry, fold, and put away the now clean clothes that her children shed like snakeskin around the house. Aside from dishes and laundry, Jen also occupies her free moments traveling and writing for her blog Three Kids and A Car where she provides travel tips and stories she’s collected since she first started bringing her daughter with her while she traveled the world.

Jen lives in Ossining with her husband, two kids aged 16 and 7, and two crazy cats.  She works from home as a travel agent and healthy food blogger. Kristen, Contributor

Kristen is the proud mom of two wonderful, smart and sassy daughters (born in 2007 and 2011). Raising her kids as a single mom is a challenge and an adventure and she loves every minute of it. Kristen loves bringing up her girls in the same area of Westchester that she grew up in, having only moved a few miles from her childhood home.  A long time passion for working with children led Kristen to pursue a career in education and she has been an elementary school teacher in the Bronx for over a decade. Her teaching career has taught her that every day is a new experience and to “expect the unexpected.” If she can find any spare time between teaching and motherhood, Kristen likes to read, binge watch horrible romantic comedies on tv, bake, and go on road trips with her girls.
