Mom’s the Word {Westchester County Mom Book Club}

book clubBefore I had kids, I was an avid reader. I could easily finish a book in one lazy Sunday, curled up on the couch or in a lawn chair. I loved getting lost in a story (it didn’t even have to be a good one!). Lately, though, my literary choices have been classics such as “Bear’s Very Snowy Day” and “I Can PeePee on the Potty!” While these are riveting reads, they don’t quite fill the void. When I was in my 20s, my friends and I started a book club. We read exactly zero books, but we got together often and enjoyed a good bottle of wine (or five), lots of laughs, and some much-needed girl time.

So, here comes Mom’s the Word, Westchester County Mom (online) book club. Our goal is to provide an easily accessible place to socialize with other ladies, take time for yourself, do something you like, and have some fun! The best thing about this book club is that it’s online and accessible at your convenience.

Here’s how it works…

When and where does the book club meet?

The book club will “meet” on Facebook. Click here to join the group. It’s a closed group, so only members will be able to see posts and make comments. There are no set meeting times. You can sign on and chime in as often or infrequently as you like. Feel free to invite any friends who might enjoy it, too.

We will periodically have face-to-face meetings or scheduled virtual meetings for whoever is interested. You’re welcome to attend and bring a friend whenever you’d like!

How does an online book club work?

This year we have set a schedule of books that we will read throughout the year. We will be reading six books in 2021. This way, you can plan ahead! Each week, we’ll post discussion topics or Facebook live videos. You are always welcome to post new topics or questions, but please refrain from posting any spoilers, as everyone will read at their own pace! You can participate in these at your leisure, right from home!

What if I already read the book/have a super busy month/don’t like the book selection?

You can sit out at any time, for any reason. If you already read the book, feel free to chime in on the discussion. If you’re too busy or don’t like the selection, jump back in whenever you want! There is no required participation!

I want to join, but I’m not a mom/don’t live in Westchester.

That’s ok. You don’t have to be a mom or live in Westchester to join. Everyone is welcome!

Can I post new questions/comments about the book?

Absolutely! Please do. We ask that you don’t post any spoilers ahead of the suggested reading schedule.

Can I post something off-topic?

Sure, just as long as you’re not promoting a business/event/item for sale/ISO. Also, any personal attacks will not be posted. Off-topic posts are a great way to get to know the other members!

We can’t wait to see you online! Happy Reading!
