Adventureland: Fun and Adventure in Our Own Backyard

Thank you for hosting us, Adventureland!

adventurelandAdventureland is located in Farmingdale, NY, right across from SUNY. My kids are 3, 5, 11, and 13, and I loved that there were rides and games for all of us to enjoy as a family. Looking at the park online, I wondered if Adventureland would be the “Rye Playland” of Long Island. But there is a uniqueness about this gem that makes the trip well worth it. The parking is free, and you do not have to pay to enter the park; you only pay to ride. No food is allowed in the park. However, you can bring water bottles. There is also water for sale and a water fountain located in the arcade.

The layout and the live music made it feel very intimate. There’s an abundance of misting fans, umbrellas, canopies, and even trees that get you out of the sun when needed. My son’s favorite was the serve-your-own frozen ice. We bought him the refillable cup, and he would refill it anytime we passed the station. The staff was great, and the bathrooms were spotless. We played games, went on the bumper cars, ate a late lunch, pretzels, Dippin Dots, and ice pops — It was a great day. The park lit up beautifully as the sun set, and we stayed until 10 pm, 30 minutes before closing, thoroughly exhausted.

Leah
Leah lived in New York City for most of her life and moved to Westchester County in 2011 to blend and extend her family with an adorable high school Math teacher she met on Match.com. After 7 years of staying home and working part-time, she is back to the full time grind, commuting to the Bronx daily in her minivan a.k.a. trusty mommy wagon (this city girl’s first and only car). This full-time working, part-time blogging mother-of-4 seems to have it all together to the observer. In fact, part of this illusion is truly having the most amazingly resilient children a mother could ask for. Leah is an overthinking, jam pack the agenda, let loose when no one’s watching, be kind to your neighbor, sanity don’t fail me now kind of soul and she loves being a part of Westchester County Moms Blog. She strives to keep her kids super busy with a wide variety and good balance of academic, social, and athletic activities while desperately managing her home and budget.
