The Westchester Mom’s Guide to May

April showers bring May flowers.  Or that’s what we hope with all of the recent rainy weather!  Warmer temperatures mean lots of outdoor family fun!  Check out the Westchester Mom’s Guide to May to find info about the events going on in Westchester County.  At the bottom of this post we have also added family fun events we have found that are taking place in the surrounding areas of Dutchess and Putnam counties, as well as Connecticut.  If there is an event that you think we should add to our monthly guide, please e-mail us and let us know!

Into the Woods

This show is presented by the Broadway Training Center Junior Ensemble.  The musical, based on the book by James LaPine intertwines the plots of several Brothers Grimm fairy tales.  The show is rated PG, however, families with young children may prefer to see Act I only.  (Please see the show description for more details)

Bronx River Clean Up

Recommended for ages 8+

Join the Greenburgh Nature Center as they clean up the shoreline of the Bronx River.  Meet at the Nature Center and feed some animals that live in the Bronx River.  Carpool over to the clean up site where trash bags and gloves will be provided.

Build a Flower Pot

In this hands-on-workshop children will build a flower pot that they can then paint and personalize.  Kids will keep their project, receive a certificate of achievement, a Workshop apron and a commemorative pin (while supplies last).

Celebrate Yonkers Arts Weekend.  Free admission to the museum both May 6 and 7. The Kite Festival includes a scavenger hunt, kite contests, newspaper kite workshop, LEGO kite building and more. 

From 1 PM – 4 PM, the museum will also be holding Family Studio this day as well.

Saturday Stories will also be taking place with a reading of The Blue and the Gray by Eve Bunting at 1:00 & 3:00 PM
